Do artists really need to suffer?

Thought that this was a very interesting article on a controversial subject in the creative arts world.

Grizzlies Win! Buy the calendar!

Grizzlies CalendarSo, I did a calendar this past fall as a fundraiser for a LGBT softball team here in Columbus. They are the Trafik Grizzlies and they just so happened to have WON the Sin City Shootout C Division Champions this past weekend. I am wicked proud of their accomplishment.

Now, you can check out my work and learn more about the team. The calendar is for sale through any of the players here in Columbus AND ME  for $20. A portion of the proceeds will go to Project: Zero. A local charity that wants to assure that there are zero HIV/AIDS patients in the Greater Columbus Area that are not receiving the standard-of-care because they cannot afford it. This includes routine lab testing and medications. For more information you can go to www.projectzeroohio.com

Plastic Forks? Beautiful!

© Tomaas

So, I was on a site this week called Trendland finding out about all things design and photography when I came upon a story. It was about a photographer named Tomaas, who works out of New York.  He had done some really beautiful photos with common objects.  They were so beautiful, I had to share them here.  Click on the link to see more of what he was able to do with platers and plastic hoses.

More Boots came in Email today!

So excited to see another great design use of my photo.  I took this last month on a shoot with the Ever-talented Courtney Radu.  We had a great time being creative and trying new ideas and techniques for these images.  The image posted is a result of that experimenting.

Reposting Chase Jarvis

So, I could not pass up reposting a really great blog post that Seattle-based photographer Chase Jarvis posted last week. It was a provocative and important post to me. Read and consider it for yourself.

10 Things Every Creative Person (That’s YOU) Must Learn
by Chase on OCTOBER 11, 2011
Here is a list of 10 things I’ve learned the hard way that every photographer, designer, creative–hell, every creative person–should know.

1. Experts aren’t the answer.
The blogs, the teachers, the mentors, the seminars aren’t the answer. They’re not there to tell you exactly what you need to know. If they’re good, then they are there to give you some ideas, some guidelines, or some rules to learn and subsequently break. This isn’t about the expert, it’s about you. In creative pursuits especially…what’s going on inside you is where the answers can be found. Hear what experts say, but don’t always listen to them.

The other 9 are at Chase Jarvis Blog. Read on…
