It is today. So excited to see what they have created with my work. You can see more of the portraits on raylavoie.com
So, I was on a site this week called Trendland finding out about all things design and photography when I came upon a story. It was about a photographer named Tomaas, who works out of New York. He had done some really beautiful photos with common objects. They were so beautiful, I had to share them here. Click on the link to see more of what he was able to do with platers and plastic hoses.
So excited to see another great design use of my photo. I took this last month on a shoot with the Ever-talented Courtney Radu. We had a great time being creative and trying new ideas and techniques for these images. The image posted is a result of that experimenting.

So excited that this shot went live today. Props to Courtney, Darla and Jim for making
such an awesome shot for DSW!
Check back often to see more of my collaboration with a truly great company.
So, I could not pass up reposting a really great blog post that Seattle-based photographer Chase Jarvis posted last week. It was a provocative and important post to me. Read and consider it for yourself.
10 Things Every Creative Person (That’s YOU) Must Learn
by Chase on OCTOBER 11, 2011
Here is a list of 10 things I’ve learned the hard way that every photographer, designer, creative–hell, every creative person–should know.
1. Experts aren’t the answer.
The blogs, the teachers, the mentors, the seminars aren’t the answer. They’re not there to tell you exactly what you need to know. If they’re good, then they are there to give you some ideas, some guidelines, or some rules to learn and subsequently break. This isn’t about the expert, it’s about you. In creative pursuits especially…what’s going on inside you is where the answers can be found. Hear what experts say, but don’t always listen to them.
The other 9 are at Chase Jarvis Blog. Read on…
So, I said I would add sound to this blog post and I have finally done it. Slide link is there, too. If you are willing to lose 43 minutes of your day listening to me blather on, here is your chance. Go to Ray As Motivational Speaker Post.
Thanks to all who helped make this event possible.
Here is a little clip to start your weekend. Thanks all for making this an amazing week!
Every year a group of friends and I go to the Ohio State Fair and eat our way from one end to the other. This includes but not limited to Roasted Corn on the cob, Fair fries, meats from the Ohio Farm Bureau building (which was frightening cold this year,) and last but not least Ice Cream from the Dairy Building.
There is also the traditional slide down the big slide with Will, who is now going to be a senior in High School. I won’t tell you how young he was when we took the Batcopter for a ride. Sheeesh….
So many great memories. I look forward to it every year.
MOVE from Rick Mereki on Vimeo.
3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage… all to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning and food ….into 3 beautiful and hopefully compelling short films…..
= a trip of a lifetime.
move, eat, learn
